In November 2007, Pope Benedict XVI selected Daniel DiNardo to be a Cardinal of the Catholic Church. This is the highest rank, under the Pope Himself, for the College of Cardinals is the entity that elects upcoming Popes. This appointment was of particular significance and joy to Catholic Texans, as Cardinal DiNardo was the first Cardinal in history from the southern United States, and his home base is the Diocese of Houston-Galveston. |
