In August, 1983,  Hurricane Alicia a deadly Category 3 storm, pounded the Texas coast spawning tornadoes and a devastating storm surge.  Hardest hit was the West Beach of Galveston Island.  The day after the storm passed, Jim Zura recorded the following photos.  Click on a photo to enlarge, then hit the Back button on your browser to return to this gallery.
