Comfort
For The Families of  Heroes

The Holidays are a time of joy for many, but for those who've lost a loved one, the blessings are tempered with sorrow and void.

The families of Law Enforcement officers who gave their lives to the line of duty were offered some comfort with a poem and video during this past holiday season.

For the families of heroes

Harris County Sergeant Shirley Ashcraft (a talented poet in her spare time) wrote a beautiful, touching poem to help give these families a spritual uplift, in a way that only a fellow law enforcement officer can have the insight to do.

For the families of heroes

TPT's Jim Zura produced the 3-minute video.
Here's Shirley's Poem:

Remember as the holidays
Come knocking at your door
I couldn't be more proud of you
I couldn't love you more

I think about you every day
You're always on my mind
I'll send my messages to you
Through memories that bind

Buy an angel for the mantel
A Santa for the door
Hang garland over the window
Lay presents on the floor

Light up the Christmas tree each night
To let the tinsel glow
Put every ornament we have
On limbs both high and low

Light candles laced with cinnamon
Let Christmas fill the air
Have friends and family around
Tell stories that we shared

Each time you hold a photograph
I'll reach out for your hand
And as you rise each coming day
By your side, I will stand

These wings will send a gentle breeze
You'll feel upon your face
And with the sun you'll surely have
The warmth of my embrace

The endless ocean waves will show
How life continues on
And in your heart and soul I'll be
Where memories are strong

As each day sets, the moon will rise
And stars will shine above
I'll send you dreams of days filled with
Our happiness and love

Be strong, have faith, continue on
Though we may be apart
Replace your tears and smile for me
My flame burns in your heart
